Quick trip out stalking carp off the top before work - and I caught the ugliest carp in the pond! Oh, and I'm not giving you the Vs, it was also the wriggliest carp in the pond!!

I added another small one but lost 4 others including an upper double - I think the line catches around pectoral fins and pings off when the carp changes direction - so next time I'm going micro barbed...
Getting there mate, you’ll be emptying it out before I know it!
ReplyDeleteIt’s a learning curve, bit gutting spotting the biggest fish I’ve seen there, stalking it and conning it into taking a bait only for it to shed the hook feet from the net - but never mind, hopefully find bigger this summer...
DeleteAbsolutely, it happens to us all. Hopefully I’m there when you do, so I can get a couple of pics for you!!
DeleteI've had some (barbless) hook posers but am enjoying get the rod bent even if some have been coming off
ReplyDeleteI use barbless for 99% of my fishing but the shape of the bigger carp looks like often the pressure is on the line around a fin or their humped back, so perhaps a micro barb will stay put better.
DeleteCan’t catch them all, can’t beat a bend in the rod but it’s nice to see them in the net at the end of the fight.
